MATERIAL SELECTION FOR LIGHTWEIGHT VEHICLES: BALANCING STRENGTH AND WEIGHT

The Department of Automobile Engineering conducted a seminar on the topic “Material Selection for Lightweight Vehicles: Balancing Strength and Weight” for second-year students as part of the Mechanics of Materials course on 7th October 2024 at 11:30 AM. The seminar was led by Mr. S.M. Naveen Kumar, TANSAM, Tidel Park, Chennai. The seminar focused on the importance of lightweight materials in the automotive industry, discussing the challenges of balancing weight reduction with maintaining strength and safety. Mr. Naveen Kumar highlighted key materials such as aluminum alloys, carbon fiber composites, and high-strength steel. The session concluded with a Q&A, offering students practical insights into material selection for vehicle design.
THE ROLE OF GEARS AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS IN OFF-ROAD VEHICLES

The Department of Automobile Engineering organized a guest lecture on “The Role of Gears and Transmission Systems in Off-Road Vehicles” for the course Power Units and Transmission on 7th October 2024 at 10:00 AM in the college auditorium. The lecture was delivered by Mr. S.M. Naveen Kumar from TANSAM, Tidel Park, Chennai. The guest lecture covered various aspects of gears and transmission systems used in off-road vehicles, focusing on the challenges of power delivery in rugged terrains and the latest innovations in transmission technology. Mr. Naveen Kumar provided practical insights into the design, function, and maintenance of these systems. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A and was highly beneficial for the students.
ALTERNATIVE JET PROPULSION SYSTEMS

On 14th September 2024, SVHPC ECE department students visited Nexora Engineering & Infrastructure for an insightful industrial tour. During the visit, they gained practical knowledge of advanced engineering practices and witnessed firsthand how infrastructure management is integrated with modern electronic and communication systems in large-scale projects. The tour provided an in-depth look at various operations, including the role of electronics in project planning, the use of communication technologies in material handling, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies in construction and maintenance. This experience helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and its real-world applications, enhancing the students’ understanding of the industry and preparing them for future careers in electronics and communication engineering.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT OF MECHANICAL

An industrial visit was organized for second-year Mechanical Engineering students to Wonderla Holiday Limited in Kochi, Kerala, on 13th September 2024. The main objective of the visit was to offer students real-world insights into how amusement parks operate from a mechanical perspective. They learned about the various mechanical systems used in rides, safety mechanisms, and the processes involved in maintaining these systems to ensure smooth and safe operations. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of how mechanical engineering principles are applied in the entertainment and hospitality industry, giving them a practical understanding beyond classroom theory.
VERILOG HDL

On 6th September, 2024, a guest lecture on “Verilog HDL” was conducted at the CAD LAB, SVHPC, for third-year Electronics and Communication Engineering students. The session, delivered by Mr. P. Sandeep, a Technical Engineer from Enthu Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., provided an in-depth understanding of Verilog HDL and its applications in VLSI systems. Key topics included the structure and syntax of Verilog HDL, its role in simulating digital systems, and practical demonstrations of code implementation. The lecture was interactive, with a Q&A session that allowed students to discuss their project ideas. Students appreciated the clear explanations and hands-on examples, finding the session beneficial for bridging the gap between theory and practical application in VLSI design.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT OF EEE

The industrial visit to Kerala Electrical & Allied Engineering Co. Ltd., held on 30th August 2024, was a successful and informative experience for the students. They gained valuable insights into the manufacturing processes of electrical machines and transformers, which will enhance their understanding of the subject and its practical applications in the industry. INDUSTRIAL IOT

The guest lecture on Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) by Mr. T. Kiruba Shankar, held on 28th August 2024, was a highly informative and enriching experience for the third-year Diploma in EEE students. The session provided valuable insights into the integration of IoT in industrial systems, helping students understand the transformative potential of IIoT in the modern world.
