SUSTAINABLE TYRE TECHNOLOGIES FOR ELECTRIC AND HYBRID VEHICLES

The Department of Automobile Engineering at Shree Venkateshwara Hi-Tech Polytechnic College conducted an enriching guest lecture on “Sustainable Tyre Technologies for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles” on 21st January 2025. The event was held at Amman Tyres and Wheel Alignment, Sengapalli, and was attended by 26 third-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering students.
The session, led by Mr. P. Mohanraj, Managing Director of Amman Tyres and Wheel Alignment, aimed to provide content beyond the syllabus for the course 4021610 – Hybrid Electrical Vehicle and Policies. It focused on the role of innovative tyre technologies in improving the efficiency and sustainability of electric and hybrid vehicles (EVs and HEVs).
Key highlights of the session included:
The role of tyres in enhancing EV and HEV performance.
Benefits of low rolling resistance tyres in extending driving range and reducing environmental impact.
Use of energy-efficient materials, including bio-based compounds and sustainable rubber sources.
Introduction to self-inflating tyre systems for improved safety and performance.
Insights into policy alignment promoting sustainable automotive practices.
The students actively participated in a Q&A session, discussing the cost implications and market viability of these advanced tyre technologies. Mr. Mohanraj addressed their queries with real-world examples and industry insights.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr. Mohanraj for sharing his expertise. The guest lecture provided valuable knowledge on the latest tyre technologies for EVs and HEVs, emphasizing their role in achieving sustainability and advancing automotive innovation.
